When it comes to the weather it seems that the only thing certain these days is that nothing is certain. Extremes are now the new normal. A wet miserable summer has turned into a wet miserable autumn. On 22nd September the weather monitoring station at Woburn recorded over 2 inches of rain in less than 2 hours. By 27th September it had recorded 232mm (9.1 inches) in the month so far, over 4 times the monthly average. At least Chalgrave escaped most of the flooding that some nearby areas experienced.#
If summer seems a distant memory this issue has some great photos to remind you of some of our local events. Looking forward we have a fund-raising Christmas wreath-making workshop (see details in this Issue) and All Saints Church are holding a Craft Fair on 9th November. This October we might be lucky enough to see a comet with the naked eye. From 11th October comet C/2023 AC might be seen close to the western horizon at around 19:00hr. Autumn is also a great time to spot the milky way as it is aligned directly overhead and less affected by light pollution. Happy stargazing.
