A5 northbound Thorn roundabout to Flying Fox works notice

A5 northbound Thorn roundabout to Flying Fox roundabout – resurfacing

National Highways plan to carry out resurfacing and refreshing road markings on the A5 between Thorn roundabout and the Flying Fox roundabout. Once complete, drivers will benefit from a safer, smoother and better-defined road surface.

We plan to complete this work over two nights between Monday 5 and Wednesday 7 August. We will work between 8pm and 6am, weather permitting.

Closures and diversions

To carry out the work safely, we will need to close the A5 in both directions between Thorn roundabout and Flying Fox roundabout and divert traffic as detailed below:

  • Traffic travelling northbound on the A5 will turn left off the Dunstable Northern Bypass (A5) onto Watling Street and then right at the next roundabout to join the A505. Traffic will continue following the A505 to Billington Road roundabout and take the second exit, straight onto the A4146. Continue on the A4146 to Kelly’s Kitchen roundabout and turn right to rejoin the A5 heading back towards the Flying Fox roundabout.
  • Traffic travelling southbound will follow the above diversion in reverse.

A map of the diversions can be found below.
