Issue 70, Spring 2021.
A note from the editorial team:
Many of you will be looking back to this time last year and reflecting on how much has changed and how much is the same. Who would have thought that a year later we would be in another lockdown? Back then we might have been worried but we probably thought it would all be ‘sorted out’ by now.
Last spring the weather was unusually warm and sunny and if you were lucky enough to be working from home (or not working at all) you could get out and enjoy the Chalgrave countryside. After some initial panics (toilet rolls!) things settled down and we adapted to our new way of life. We found new ways of doing things although usually they weren’t as easy or as much fun as the old ways. We continued to publish and deliver the Chalgrave News in spite of having just one face-to-face editorial meeting outdoors last summer.
A year later, after a particularly cold and miserable spring we’re all fed-up as we come to terms with the fact that Covid-19 will be something we have to live with for the foreseeable future. But things are looking up at last. The vaccination programme has been remarkably successful so far, and we can now meet and hug and start making plans (with our fingers crossed). So in the words of Chalgrave resident Colin McCausland (Page 36) ‘Grab life, enjoy it while you can.’ just remember to be careful out there.
